In this video we witness Amma (Amritananda Mayi) hugging some members of the United States Congress!! And from the looks of it, they really need it. I am just a little blown away by this. A few of them melted as she embraced them, some smile profusely and others appeared just a little uncomfortable. Watching one or two sort of pull away is a funny reminder to those of us who practically run to her to get hugged, that there is so much guardedness within the human psyche to relinquish the ego, even for a minute, and allow oneself to be embraced by this saintly woman. But kudos to those guys, at least they were curious enough or aware enough to do something completely out of the ordinary. For a few moments they stepped into the world of Amma's unconditional love. Even if they didn't totally surrender at that moment, something in them had to shift, to a greater or lesser degree. Once you've been hugged by Amma, there's no turning back.
