This is a much better story than the one I found at Huff Post, which was a little condescending in places.  In any case, it is true that the American Red Cross steals money from donations, which is why storm victims in New York and New Jersey have not seen nor heard from them in all this time.  (If that changes, I will take down this post.)  And also why Mayor Bloom(so-much-money-I-wanna-hurl)berg has told the public NOT to send supplies but rather to send money.  Liner notes for a recent blog talk radio program read:   

 Mayor Bloomberg of NYC told President Barack Obama not to come to NYC to view the damage from the storm. He bragged that he told the President that the visit to NJ would count for NY.

One of the more depressing aspects of the days during the blackout, when I ventured out to charge my cell phone and find a hot spot, was the painfully noticeable absence of news trucks -- anywhere.  That, and there were no taxi cabs south of 14th Street or East of 1st Avenue in Manhattan.   I don't own a T.V. but am told the local news is all but in a media blackout regarding what is really going on (or not) with the people who have been stranded and forgotten.  This kind of neglect is unconscionable and beyond anything we could imagine would take place in our own city.  (ny1 video here.)  -S.C.-

 Occupy Sandy Fills Void FEMA & Red Cross Are Unable to Fill

One week since “Frankenstorm” Sandy hit the northeastern United States, New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg projects twenty to forty thousands New Yorkers homeless. Residents on the Rockaway Peninsula are complaining about the lack of help from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA). A posting at Occupy Sandy Stories described, “Many Staten Islanders feel their borough is being overlooked and ignored by authorities.”

The denunciation of the Red Cross by Staten Island Borough President James Molinaro, covered by “Democracy Now!”, largely affirms this feeling of neglect permeating the community:

…I’ve got to tell you, as the borough president of Staten Island, of a half-a-million people, I am disappointed at some of these not-for-profit organizations that collect lots and lots of money from Staten Islanders and didn’t respond, and one of them being this American Red Cross. I have not seen the American Red Cross at a shelter. I have not seen them down south shore, where people are buried in their own homes, have nothing to eat, have nothing to drink.

And yesterday, touring the south shore with the mayor, the neighbors down there that didn’t have electricity managed to put together pots of soup, and they were distributing it to the people down there whose homes were just destroyed. And the American Red Cross was nowhere to be found. So, all the American Red Cross, all these people making these big salaries, these big salaries, should be out there on the front line. And I am disappointed. And my advice to the people of Staten Island is: do not donate to the American Red Cross. Let them get their money elsewhere…

Stepping in to immediately do what the government and private non-profit relief organizations seem incapable of doing, Occupy Sandy Relief has been on the ground. According to The Nation‘s Allison Kilkenny,  ”Occupy Sandy, as the effort has been branded, arose quickly in the aftermath of the storm, setting up local community hubs to dispense water, food and aid, and form groups to help communities pump water from their houses and clean up the vast quantities of rubble left in Sandy’s wake. Distribution centers and volunteer hubs are now located in Sunset Park, Astoria, Brighton Beach, DUMBO, East Village, Lower East Side, Jersey City, Red Hook, Rockaway, and Staten Island.”

Lots of wonderful information from SaLuSa today.  He acknowledges the wonderfulness of the 2012 Sedona Conference, citing that the impact of the Light generated there will increase the probability for a City of Light to emerge; the cycle of duality is coming to an end and the cataclysmic events predicted long ago have been minimized due consciousness levels rising.  SaLuSa re-affirms the success of President Obama's second term, when he will be more able to demonstrate his true goals for planetary peace.  Hurricane Sandy was an act of Nature/Gaia for her own ascension; we are reminded that everything is in order and to trust in our own power.  Above all, he suggests we are moving forward very quickly and to stay firm in our expressions of Light.  -S.C.-

Dear Ones what a grand assembly of people took place in Sedona, with the coming of the 2012 Scenario Conference. With no hesitation hundreds took off to meet for 3 days, to listen to speakers well known for their dedication to spreading the Light. They were treated to a feast that brought out the love and Light of all concerned, and created a focus for it that spread out all around. It remains as a beacon that calls out to other souls, and signals the intent of raising the vibrations even higher than they were before. It also increases the chance of the first City of Light emerging very shortly. Those dear souls who were involved are true Lightworkers who answered the call to join arms, and bring Ascension to the notice of more people than before.

We watched the Light growing not just from above, and our representatives with Angels were also present to witness first hand the beauty and joy of your gathering. We also ensured your Conference was not interfered with, because such an explosion of Light attracts the dark Ones who would wish to extinguish it. It is as well all of you who are of the Light take care to protect yourselves, and a simple visualization of placing a cocoon of Light around you will keep you safe. What you learnt was that where there are many of a like mind and intent, there is an instant bonding and a freedom of expression that is uninhibited by social custom or practices. You felt unrestrained and able to accept other souls without question. In your future that kind of acceptance will be the normal way that you will interact with others.

Trillions of dollars worth of stock certificates and other paper securities that were stored
in a vault in lower Manhattan may have suffered water damage from Superstorm Sandy.

The Depository Trust & Clearing Corp., an industry-run clearing house for Wall Street, said the contents of its vault "are likely damaged," after its building at 55 Water Street "sustained significant water damage" from the storm that battered New York City's financial district earlier this week.

The vault contains certificates registered to Cede & Co., a subsidiary of DTCC, as well as "custody certificates" in sealed envelopes that belong to clients.

The DTCC provides "custody and asset servicing" for more than 3.6 million securities worth an estimated $36.5 trillion, according to its website.

MAX The Crystal Skull ~ A Message About the Storm

I want to share this message despite my hesitation.  I am not familiar with this channel nor am I sure that MAX was present during this reading.  Nonetheless, I found that the message gives us a another way to understand the storm.  MAX says it is a "mythic" storm, which I can only interpret to mean that this event has been present in the drama of mythologies and archetypes.  Keeping an open mind, I find this idea rather stimulating, and believe one would not have to go far to find the accuracy of that statement.  

I sincerely feel this has indeed been a cleansing of Gaia and, if we take our cues from our own deeper knowing and intuition, we will find we too are on point with our letting go process.  I suspect any mental or emotional discomfort we may be experiencing is due to the terrific upheaval the the planet has just displayed.   It is a wonderful time for self-love, self-care and self-nurturing, and to feel all the emotions as they rise inside of us, just as the Earth felt Her emotions in all their horrific grandeur during Her own purging of "mythic" proportions.  -S.C.-

The Astrology of the Storm ~ How Hurricane Sandy Might Be a Political Ploy

In all of my peering ahead into this election season, I missed what has emerged as a kind of surprise theme: a weather event. So far I’ve seen all kinds of mischief in the election chart and those in the days leading up to Election Day. It really looked (and looks) like there would be some kind of October surprise.

In a series of articles I’ve been doing for Planet Waves and Huffington Post, I’ve noted the potential for assorted confusion, mixups, misinterpretation, bad data, some international event influencing the election, fraud and Internet outages. All of this is associated with Mercury stationing retrograde on Election Day, followed by a total solar eclipse less than one week later.
However, I must admit: the idea of a weather event did not cross my mind. I did not see it in the charts, nor has anyone said anything to me about it in the many conversations I’ve had with other astrologers about the election. We do seem to have one on our hands — you’re looking at a photo from early Sunday of Hurricane Sandy creeping up the East Coast of the United States, about to be met by an Arctic air mass coming down from western Canada, which will be nudged easterly by the Jet Stream.
