I was originally going to dismiss this story, it wasn't juicy enough or didn't relate to the mood- du-jour. But looking closer, i.e., actually reading it, I see that it is a beautiful and very significant turn of events. And that's because it is really good news for the planet!! It's more subtle than perhaps what we are expecting - it comes without bells and whistles and the aggrandizement of mass arrests. We've become so numb from not accepting positive concrete news or results; we've become focused on so many what-ifs that when something actually wonderful happens, it is easily overlooked. The ocean life is breathing a little easier with this undertaking to preserve marine life. And honestly, so am I. -S.C.-

Stephen: No matter what lies ahead with regards the cleansing of this planet and our future moves from polluting fossil fuels to free energy and new technologies, this announcement today is a big step forward in the current paradigm. I’m proud to say: it happened in Australia first!Additionally, images like this (at left) demonstrate how extraordinarily, naturally beautiful this planet and its creatures are – and this is only in 3D (well, 2D actually, as its a photo) but how mind-blowing will it all be in 5D?
Australia Creates World’s Largest Marine Park, Bans Drilling

CANBERRA (Reuters) – Australia will create the largest network of marine parks in the world, protecting waters covering an area as large as India while banning oil and gas exploration and limiting commercial fishing in some of the most sensitive areas.
Australia’s marine reserves will increase [in number] from 27 to 60 under the new scheme, covering more than 3 million sq km, or one third of the island nation’s waters.
The announcement of the network was made a week before more than 130 heads of state and government will gather in Rio de Janeiro for the United Nations’ sustainable development conference as part of global efforts to curb climate change, one of the biggest conferences in U.N. history.
New reserves will be established from the Perth Canyon in the southwest to Kangaroo Island off the southern coast, but the “jewel in the crown” will be the protection of the Coral Sea area which surrounds the Great Barrier Reef in the northeast, Environment Minister Tony Burke said on Thursday.
