Good Feng Shui: Red double-doors that are strong and
beautifully supported; the design feels welcoming and conveys a feeling of
protection.

The front door of your home or the door to
your apartment is the point of entry into your life. It’s where the
outside world meets your inside world. The front door is a snapshot of
how the outer energy relates to you. The path to the front door
symbolizes money and opportunity, and because we want things to flow easily
into our lives, it is imperative to keep the path to the front door clear,
clean and attractive. Therefore keep the path clear of debris and cracks
or potholes. If the path to the front door is straight on, then soften
the rushing chi with lights or flowers.
The front door should be easily visible from the street and the
address number of the house should be easy legible from the road; this conveys
the message that when “opportunity knocks”, it will be easy to contact you.
Ideally the door should be red to attract positive chi to you and your
home. To gain more harmony and flow near the front door, hang a metal
wind chime. As well, the door should not creak and the door knobs and
locks need to be perfect condition. One should not have to struggle
with opening the door as that represents a struggle in your
life. If the door to the house is hidden, then place a
reflective object that will bring attention to the door, in good taste, of
course.
When you open the front
door to your home or apartment, there should be plenty of unobstructed space
– a good size foyer, or entrance-way, one that is well-lit, is
desirable. If there is a wall on the side creating a narrower entrance,
then hang a mirror on that same wall; this allows the space to become larger
and more open. Another symbol for money is water: place a fountain
inside to attract money chi. Keep the size of the fountain proportionate
to the size of the entrance; remember, it's about balance. If you use a
placemat outside or an area rug inside, it can be colorful or have a nice
flowing pattern; this is to keep the chi dynamic. Remember not to overdo
it and stay in harmony of what you wish to create.
Again, if the front door
is not the one you actually use, except for guests or package deliveries,
then consider this: start using the front door more frequently.
This will add energy to your front door gua. And remember to give a nod
of appreciation to the ever-present and benevolent chi.
